The iRobot Roomba 980, the most recent in a line of top-of the-line robot vacuums, is a staple for every modern home. This model has seriously strong suction and it comes with a HEPA filter that will assist anyone suffering from allergies. Additionally it also comes with a powerful battery which can clean for up to two hours and it will return to its dock when its bin is full.

It also has an option called smart mapping, which makes use of multiple sensors to determine the areas in your home that need attention and create a cleaning path around them. We've seen this technology in action and it does a good job of moving around toys that have been left scattered on the floor, or furniture legs that are sticking out from under things. It also has a camera sensor that snaps the Roomba back to reality when it starts to drift from its actual location.

iRobot has also added an additional set of rollers beneath the Roomba which do not have bristles and are therefore more likely to resist the tangles that previous models. The rollers are also larger and can fit under beds or couches with low sides. They're designed to make this model more movable on various floor types.

What makes the Roomba 980 stand out from other models with a higher-end price tag Its main feature is the incorporation of the latest dirt detection feature that uses a camera to spot tiny bits of dirt. This is a nice improvement over the previous version, which relied on a sensor-driven pseudorandom coverage method to bounce around a room and clean at least three times from different angles.

In our tests of its performance in our tests of its performance, the Roomba 980 did well on carpets and hard flooring. Its score on the low pile carpet was impressive, and it got a very good score on mid pile too. It was successful in collecting pet hair, however it struggled with the thick and long pet hair that was stuck together.

Despite these slight limitations, the Roomba 980 remains one of our best robot mop for wood floors-performing robots, and it's not even close to being as expensive as some of the other top models on this list. It still has a lot of features that we'd like to see in a top-of-the-line model however it lacks all the fancy apps or smart home integration are found in other top models.

The iRobot Roomba can be set up in a matter of minutes and is available for use as soon as you are ready to. After taking the yellow bin insert and the battery pull tab from the undercarriage, you just plug it into the wall socket or one of its Home Base docking stations, hit the "Clean button" and let it do its work. It will automatically return to its dock when it has run out of batteries or is full of trash. There are also indicators at the top of the bin that let you know when its bin is empty, or when it needs to recharge, or when it loses Wi-Fi.
